Raj Government Grants Industry Status to Tourism Hospitality Sector

Jaipur, Feb 23 (PTI) The tourism and hospitality sector will be granted industry status in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Wednesday.
Gehlot made the announcement in the state budget, saying it was a long overdue request and the decision will provide support to the sector.
With this announcement, government tariffs and levies will now be payable by the sector in line with industry standards, placing an additional financial burden of Rs 700 crore on the Treasury.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced the increase in the amount of the Tourism Development Fund from Rs 500 crore to Rs 1000 crore. The fund was created in the last budget to support the sector.
The Chief Minister announced the restart of intra-state air services and the linking of destinations based on demand and feasibility, an adventure tourism promotion program, an integrated online booking portal and a mobile application with Rs 10 crore to facilitate tourists, recruitment of 500 ‘Paryatan Mitra’ to assist tourists.
Gehlot announced the development of the Vagad Tourist Circuit to promote tourism in the tribal dominated districts of Dungarpur and Banswara.
The tour will include Mangarhdham- Devsomnath, Beneshwar- Galiyakot- Arthuna- Tripura Sundari- Kadana- Mahi Bajaj Sagar- Kagdi pick-up- Ghotiya Amba.
In Sawaimadhopur district, detailed project report of cable car to Trinetra Ganesh temple, Ranthambore-Sawaimadhopur, Rameshwar Mahadev temple, Akoda temple (Bundi) will be done with Rs 5 crore.
The Chief Minister also announced a 25% increase in fees and other allowances given to folk artists. PTI SDA MR
